John Stithem, PT, SCS

John graduated from Cal State Fresno in Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology. He completed his graduate Physical Therapy Training at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, School of Physical Therapy in 1984.

He opened OSPT in 1989 with a commitment to provide quality orthopaedic physical therapy in a locally owned and operated environment.

John became one of the first 100 Physical Therapists in the nation to become board certified as a Sports Clinical Specialist in 1992. He is certified in the Graston Technique and will begin a Doctoral Candidate program in Physical Therapy in the spring of 2008.

John enjoys scuba, free diving, cycling, golf, skiing, traveling, hiking, throwing balls for his dogs and driving his 1965 sunbeam tiger. He and his wife Kelley have 5 children.

Ken Bariel, PT, MRA

Ken graduated with a BS in Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University in Southern California in 1970. He completed his post graduate work at the University of San Francisco with a Masters in Rehabilitation Administration in 1976.

His interest is in Geriatric Orthopedics. His favorite form of therapy is Aquatics Therapy. He is a Thoracic Outlet Syndrome Specialist, completed the Maitland Long Course and Paris course as well as the refresher courses over the last 5 years. Ken also is certified in McKenzie Therapy, a patient direct form of treatment for derangement and mechanical dysfunction.

He owned his own clinic in Sebastopol for a number of years and has managed practices while treating patients during his entire career.

Ken enjoys cycling, golf, traveling, camping and taking walks with his wife Cheryl and their dogs Bijou and Samantha.

Robin Samay, MS, PT

Robin has been in Sonoma County since 1990 and graduated with a BS in Physiology from UC Davis in 1984 and a MS in Physical therapy in 1988 from the University of the Pacific. She had worked in private practices in both Marin and Sonoma Counties before joining OSPT in 1990. She has complimented her education by attending continuing education classes covering spinal and joint mobilization, therapeutic exercise, McConnell taping, muscle energy technique, pelvic and LE rehab, shoulder and knee rehab, trunk stabilization programs, Pilates mat Certification, orthotic evaluations and more. Her specialties include pelvic instability and lower kinetic chain dysfunctions.

Robin's personal interests include sharing time with her husband and two sons while hiking, boating, wakeboarding and gardening.

Andrew Hughey, MS, PT

Andrew is from Gualala in Mendocino County. He graduated in Sports Medicine and Biology from the University of the Pacific where he also lettered in basketball, track and field. He earned his MS in Physical Therapy from the University of Pacific's school of Physical Therapy in 2002.

Andrew's areas of interest are in sports rehabilitation, foot and ankle evaluations and orthotic casting. He designs custom foot orthotics for our patients.

He is an avid indoor and outdoor enthusiast and his spare time is spent at the coast surfing or playing music with his friends.

Robert Leavitt, PT, MPT, OCCS, JSCC

Robert graduated from UC Davis with a BS in Physical Education and completed his MS in Physical Therapy from Mount Saint Mary's College in 1995.

In 2006 he became Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist, certified by the American Physical Therapy Association as having developed a greater depth of knowledge and skills related to the area of Orthopaedic Physical therapy. He is also Jones Strain and Counter Strain Certified. Strain counter strain is an innovative technique for treating pain and dysfunction through body positioning. The PGA has certified Robert for golf related strengthening and conditioning. He is also a certified clinical instructor and committed to furthering his knowledge base of physical therapy and instruction physical therapy students.

Robert enjoys hiking, mountain biking, running for fitness and golf. He and his wife Dawn have two school age children.

Guy S. Mohr, ATC, PTA, CSCS

Guy is from Sebastopol, attended Analy High and the Santa Rosa Junior College. He earned his BA in Physical Education from Long Beach State University in 1989. He is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant.

As well as working at OSPT Guy is the Assistant Athletic Trainer for SRJC, former Athletic trainer for Montgomery High Football, Nike Coast Track and Field and Fountain Valley High.

Guy volunteers on Montgomery High Medical Pathways Advisory Board, Rincon Valley Little League baseball, and with Santa Rosa United Soccer. He enjoys photography, running with his dogs and trying to keep up with his wife and two young children in youth athletics.

Kimberly Lambert - Patient Representative

Kimberly was born and raised in Santa Rosa. She lives in Guerneville with her husband Frank and son Chet. They also have 3 daughters attending college in Southern California! Kimberly loves gardening, waterskiing, snow skiing, watching her son play football and her daughter play college soccer.

Ruth Padilla - Receptionist

Ruth is the receptionist, or "Head Mamajamma" at the Oakmont office. She was born and raised in SF and moved to SR in 1999 to be with her daughter who was starting her family. She now has three grandchildren. Ruth is also a Reiki Practitioner and is now studying for Certification in Clinical Aromatherapy. She continues to say after 3 1/2 years, "I love my job and working with the community here at Oakmont".

Lupe Moreno - Billing Manager

Lupe has been living in Santa Rosa since the age of six. She is a student at SRJC, majoring in Criminal Justice. She has a three year old daughter named Aileen. She enjoys gardening and spending time with her daughter.

Megan Newhall - Vice President of Administration

Megan Newhall is a Sonoma County native. She is married and has two adorable kids that she loves taking to Howarth Park and the beach on the weekends. She is a graduate of Monterey Bay State University and has been with OSPT for 3 years. She loves cooking, scuba and speaking Spanish.

Veronica Torres - Receptionist

Veronica was born and raised in Santa Rosa. She graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1999 and completed her A.A. degree at Santa Rosa Junior College. Veronica studied French for three years and is now learning Italian. Her hobbies are drawing, playing her piano, reading, crocheting and going on bike rides with her husband.
